Vinaya Vidheya Rama Story
Four street-scavenging orphan kids lose hope in life and decide to put an end to their struggle by committing suicide. But they find an infant, Rama (Ram Charan), and decide to raise him as their younger brother. For Rama, his brothers mean everything and he does everything to protect them. His elder brother (Prashanth) is an honest election commission officer who gets into trouble for opposing Raja Bhai (Vivek Oberoi), a local don. The rest of the story is about how Rama protects his family against the odds.
Story Analysis
Vinaya Vidheya Rama has a wafer-thin plot that survives solely on-premise. The writers built screenplay over out-of-the-mill scenes that are extremely routine. The scenes and dialogues give us a deja vu feeling of Boyapati Srinu’s previous films. The opening scenes are good on screen and establish an emotional drama. The first fight is out of place and is confusing but is instantly dismissed. It is a waste of run-time. The family is not properly established and all of them appear together at the time without giving any character or personality to everyone. Only Prashanth and Sneha stand out among the crowd. The comedy didn’t work and is passable. The chemistry between the lead pair is good but there is not much romance. The interval sequence is grand but has lengthy sequences of mindless action and violence. Nevertheless, the first half is entertaining and watchable.
The second half starts with regular family drama. After a brief sequence of drama, the film switches to action. The action sequences in the second half are lengthy and illogical. At some point, they remind us of old Balakrishna films. The entire second half can be summed up in Two action sequences. But the timeline is messed up and we never know the sequence of incidents. The performance of Sneha is the only thing that stands out in the second half. Apart from action and entertainment, the film fails to convey a proper story. Overall, the film is a scene-by-scene replacement of the Legend template which shows the poor writing skills of Boyapati Srinu.
Performances
Ram Charan is most comfortable in mass films and he effortlessly fits into the character. There is not much scope for him to perform but he excels in some scenes like pre-climax emotional drama. Kiara Advani has a minor character with a limited runtime. She adds glamor to the film and performs well within her scope. Vivek Oberoi is extraordinary in his role. His eyes are fierce throughout the film. Prashanth is good in his role. Sneha is superb in her role with an intense performance. Aryan Rajesh and Ravi Varma stand in the background for the majority of the scenes involving them.
Technical Analysis
Vinaya Vidheya Rama has a weak script with cliched dialogues. The film would have performed better with a proper script. The production values are grand and the producer spent lavishly on the film. The cinematography is good and syncs with the tone of the film. The songs are average but are good on screen. The background score is gripping. The editing is a disaster and the film doesn’t convey a story. The direction is mediocre and it seems like Boyapati Srinu is stuck with his regular template. He has not improved a bit even with 3-4 times the budget of his previous films.
Conclusion
Vinaya Vidheya Rama is an out-and-out mass entertainer which may not appeal to regular audiences. The fans of Boyapati Srinu-style films may enjoy it.
