The popular trend of biopics has been continuing in Bollywood for several years and some of the highest-grossing films including ‘Dangal’ were biopics. The success of ‘Mahanati’ inspired the trend of biopics in Tollywood. Mahanati is based on the life of the first Telugu female superstar, Savitri. The films contained some scenes involving popular actors like NTR, ANR, SVR, Krishna, etc. which are well received by the audience. The biopics of actors have become a success material and the successors of many popular actors want to glorify the on-screen and off-screen life of the actors through biopics.
The biopic of Sr NTR is under production and is titled ‘NTR’. The film stars Nandamuri Balakrishna in the title role with Vidya Balan, Murali Sharma, Kaikala Satyanarayana, Rana Daggubati, and Sumanth in prominent roles. The biopic of freedom fighter ‘Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy’ is underway starring Megastar Chiranjeevi in the lead role, titled ‘Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy’.
The latest news is that the biopic of Superstar Krishna is being planned. The son-in-law of Krishna, Sudheer Babu, announced in Vizag during the promotions of his upcoming film, Nannu Dochukunduvate, that the biopic of Krishna is planned and he will announce all the details soon. Krishna was one of the leading actors of his generation and has more than 350 films to his credit. He experimented a lot and has shown much diversity in his roles from a poor guy fighting against feudal lords, a freedom fighter, secret agent to a cowboy. The audience expects power-packed performances more than anything from his biopic. Sudheer Babu has started his own production house, Sudheer Babu Productions, and his upcoming film Nannu Dochukunduvate is slated to release on September 13 this year. It is expected that the biopic of Krishna will be produced under his own production house.
Earlier, during the promotions of Sudheer Babu’s recent film Sammohanam, he asked Krishna about the director preferred for his biopic, to which Krishna responded that many youngsters are coming into the industry and it can’t be decided in advance. Sudheer Babu initially had plans to cast Mahesh Babu to play the role of his father in the biopic. But now it seems that Sudheer Babu himself will be seen in the lead role. The details about the cast and crew are not yet revealed.
