Shailaja Reddy Alludu Story
Chaithu (Naga Chaitanya) is the only son of an egoistic businessman (Murali Sharma). He falls in love with Anu (Anu Emmanuel) and teases her. She is egoistic and avoids him at first but eventually falls for him. The problems start when he realizes that he has to deal with Anu’s egoistic mother Shailaja Reddy to marry her. How Chaithu united the Anu and Shailaja Reddy forms the crux of the story.
Story Analysis
Shailaja Reddy Alludu is a typical ‘Attha-Alludu’ story with egoistic characters. Such films generally have multiple conflicts but here Maruthi focussed primarily on comedy by involving more comedians instead of raising a conflict. The script is written keeping Naga Chaitanya in mind and it is evident during several scenes and dialogues. The characterizations are weak and the character attitudes are told through dialogues instead of showing through scenes. The first half is a regular story of a hero teasing heroine and a comedian friend helping him. The interval twist establishes the conflict and the second half again falls flat with a weak narration. Some comedy scenes didn’t work. The fights are a treat to fans but the heroism is limited. Overall, it’s a regular story with a regular comedy.
Performances
Naga Chaitanya had a complete makeover in his appearance and he looks uber cool in the film. His comedy timing got better and he is good in action scenes. Anu Emmanuel is decent but expecting acting from her is too much to ask for. Ramya Krishnan is the show stealer with her intensity and ease of acting. But her character suffers weak writing without giving much scope. Vennela Kishore is good in a regular role as Chari. Murali Sharma is convincing as a businessman. Prudhvi delivers another good performance but his scenes are not entertaining.
Technical Analysis
Shailaja Reddy Alludu is a complete Maruthi mark film. The script is no different from his earlier films. He is consistently failing as a writer. The production values are good. The cinematography is an asset to the film. The background score elevates the mood and some songs are good on screen. The action choreography is good. The editing is decent but there is a lot of scope for improvement. The direction is average. Maruthi is getting better in technical standards but losing his touch in execution. He should stick to the rule of ‘show not tell’.
Conclusion
Shailaja Reddy Alludu is a routine action comedy film with a commercial format. It may work to some extent as the family audience love to watch entertainers during the festive season.
