Naa Peru Surya Naa Illu India Story Analysis
The story is not a simple one but has several segments which don’t complement one another. The soldier with anger issues track of the film is inspired by a Hollywood film ‘Antwone Fisher’. The anger management in the second half is similar to that of Nagarjuna starrer Tamil/Telugu movie ‘Rakshakudu’. The love track is completely independent of the rest of the story and doesn’t affect it. The family track has not much significance and is only used for padding. The villain track started as the major conflict in the story but is completely ignored towards the climax.
Major flaws
The Two major flaws in the story are: inconsistencies in conflicts and leaving all tracks independent of one another. The film starts with a soldier with anger issues ignoring orders of the superiors and acting on his own. This is not convincing as indiscipline is not tolerated in the Indian army because of qualifications. If we ignore it and proceed to explore the story, the first conflict in the story is for the protagonist to control anger to return to the army. The entire love track is a filler before the second conflict, that is the problems between the father-son duo. Within no time, another conflict overshadows these Two and starts villain track. By the time of interval, the movie has been meddling between conflicts without any scope of a possible solution.
The entire second half narrates how Surya has to compromise and lose his character to be acceptable in society. This is the most interesting aspect of the film and has been very well executed. But towards the end, the story again wanders between the 3 conflicts. The childhood scenes should have avoided the scar on the eyebrow, as it became cliched as to how his mother couldn’t recognize him just after 12 years as the scar is very much noticeable.
Story Analysis
The story of ‘Naa Peru Surya Naa Illu India’ has a lot of scopes, but it is heavily commercialized and lost the soul in the process. It discusses many problems in society and patriotism but has not given much time to express everything and many of the good things are overshadowed by commercial elements. Moreover, the regular Telugu movie commercial elements are forced into the movie.
Performances
The performances are the biggest achievement of the movie. This is the career-best performance for Allu Arjun as his character has many shades and he excels in everything. Additionally, his performance in emotional scenes is intense and immerses the audience into the film. Anu Emmanuel has limited scope for performance and she is okay, but her performance is far better than her regular roles.
Arjun Sarja, Sai Kumar, and Nadhiya impress in their respective roles. Arjun’s character may seem flat but requires an actor of his caliber to showcase the subtlety required. A little overacting could have spoiled the entire movie. He simply excelled in his role. Sarath Kumar, Posani Krishna Murali, Boman Irani, and Rao Ramesh performed well.
Technical analysis
The Music has been well received, and the song ‘Sainika’ is impressive. The background music in the film is also good. The cinematography is good except that the lighting changes in some scenes look abrupt. The Editing is fine but there are some scenes like cross-cutting during interval block which could have been better. The choreography is refreshing and the song ‘Lover also Fighter also’ deserves a special mention.
The stunts are no different than other commercial Telugu movies. The Direction is good for a debut Director. Some shots are very well executed and some are mediocre which shows the inexperience of the Director. Overall, it’s a good attempt with many flaws.
