Andhra Pradesh Government has announced huge support for low-budget Telugu films. The films which are made under a budget of Rs 4 Crores are considered as low budget films and certain conditions need to be met to qualify for the subsidies. The production should have its office in Andhra Pradesh and also should get its name registered with APSFTVTDC after paying a prescribed fee. The shooting should be done in Andhra Pradesh and even the post-production should be done in the state itself.
A subsidy of Rs 10 Lakhs and the reimbursement of the state’s share of GST will be offered to 15 low-budget films every year. The complete investment in the film should be revealed except for the remunerations paid to the actors and the technicians. The committee should certify the film as good to be eligible for the reimbursement. The state government has taken the initiative to promote the low-budget films as well as to lure the production houses into the state. The low-budget films will get approvals for the shooting in the state free of cost. After the state bifurcation, film shooting is mostly restricted to Hyderabad. The decision of the state government is expected to revive the film industry in the state.
