Agnyaathavaasi is a Telugu action movie starring Pawan Kalyan, Keerthy Suresh, and Anu Emmanuel in lead roles. S. Radha Krishna produced the film under his home banner Harika and Hassini creations. Trivikram Srinivas has written and directed it. The Pawan Kalyan and Trivikram duo has delivered blockbuster Attarintiki Daredi earlier. So, expectations were sky high and the audiences are confident in the movie since the announcement. Although the audio received a mixed response, it did not affect the business and openings. The film received unanimously negative reviews from the very first show from both audience and critics. Please read Agnyaathavaasi movie review to know more about the film.
Agnyaathavaasi Story
A billionaire Govinda Bhargav alias Vinda (Boman Irani) and his son are murdered in an attempt to take over his company. The wife of Vinda, Indrani (Khushboo) brings her stepson Abhishikta Bhargav (Pawan Kalyan), the prince in exile, out of hiding who was raised away from materialistic life, in an attempt to save the company from falling into wrong hands and to find the murderer. How Abhishikta Bhargav achieves it forms the crux of the story.
Story & Character Analysis
The story is a reboot of Prabhas starrer ‘Rebel’ with scenes here and there copied from ‘Largo Winch.’ The central theme of both Rebel and Agnyaathavaasi is to trace the villain who killed the hero’s family through heroine. There are a lot of subtle similarities used in the screenplay. The unnecessary hero elevation scene lifted from Rebel’s interval episode doesn’t add any value to the story. Apart from other things, the climax is heavily influenced by Largo Winch. The art design is a blatant copy, which is unfair considering the budget and reach of the film.
The story lacks any structure like several other films of Trivikram Srinivas. This film will probably remain the biggest disappointment of his career. The introduction of the hero is flat without any importance to the story. The story continues with bits and pieces of romance until the interval, which establishes the conflict leaving the audience with the hope of intense second half. But the second half is even more patchy with unnecessary romance and comedy. There is no conflict in the story and it is flat without any seriousness. The hero who promises to kill the murderer of his father without any mercy at the beginning seems to be enjoying his life singing and dancing without any sadness or anger. Although Trivikram Srinivas excelled as a screenwriter and dialogue writer earlier, there is nothing good about him in this film.
Performances
With the stellar cast, the performances are laudable. Pawan Kalyan performed with his subtle acting, particularly during the climax, without overacting. But honestly, there is not much scope for his role to perform. Keerthy Suresh doesn’t have much scope to perform. Aadi and Khushboo are excellent in their roles. Others are mostly limited and have delivered good performances.
Technical Analysis
Trivikram’s abilities as a Director are questionable in several parts of the film. The composition and art design at several scenes pale in comparison to his earlier films. Most of the scenes look like shots in a hurry without putting in much thought or preparation. The cinematography is great at parts, but some scenes are overexposed. The music is good but doesn’t appeal to the Telugu audience. Particularly, the background music during the climax is something unusual and doesn’t provide much-needed tension and seriousness. The Editing is good, and the Production values are great.
Conclusion
Agnyaathavaasi has many flaws, but the story overshadows them all. There is no conflict in the story, and the character arc of the hero lacks seriousness. Overall, it’s a half-baked movie made with a lot of overconfidence.
