Story Analysis

The story of Silly Fellows doesn’t offer anything new and the comedy in the film is a farce. As the television and web media has been offering comedy in a wide spectrum, the films require to come up with creative ways to generate healthy comedy. Silly Fellows has illogical tracks and sometimes the main plot gets side-lined for comedy. The comedy in the first half, the chemistry between Allari Naresh and Sunil, and the track between Sunil and Nandini Rai worked very well. The film relies heavily on the performances of Allari Naresh and Sunil, and they don’t disappoint the audience.

Performances

Allari Naresh has done such roles several times in his career and he performs with ease. Sunil returns to his strong forte and reminds the audience of his early career. He is quite comfortable and his comedy timing is remarkable. Chitra Shukla has a limited role and she is decent. Nandini Rai is okay in a brief role. Brahmanandam has had disappointing roles in recent times but this time, he has a considerable role. His comedy works in the film.

Technical Analysis

The script is a copy of the Tamil original version without putting much thought into it. There is scope to improve it but the writers didn’t work on it. The production values are decent and the editing could have been better. The music is good. Bhimaneni Srinivasa Rao lost his touch on the direction. He used to handle the films very well in his early career but he is relying on the actors very much these days. He should reconsider scripts and filmmaking aspects for his future projects.

Conclusion

Silly Fellows is an average comedy film that relies heavily on Allari Naresh and Sunil. Watch it only for their comedy timing and ignore illogical scenes.
