The audience criticized him for Krishnarjuna Yuddham and Devadas that he is following the trend of routine commercial films. He chose a sports drama for his upcoming film, Jersey. Malli Rava fame, Gowtam Tinnanuri, is directing the film. Naga Vamsi is bankrolling the project. Anirudh Ravichander composed music for the film. Vishwaroopam 2 fame Sanu Varghese is the cinematographer. Kannada actress Shraddha Srinath is playing the female lead. As per the reports, the regular shooting of the film is complete and the post-production work is underway.
The story of Jersey deals with second chances in life, which is similar to the theme of Malli Rava. It is an emotional drama of an aging cricketer looking forward to resuming his sports career. Although Jersey had a fair chance to make it big at the box office, the fate of the film depends solely on the screenplay. The theme related to cricket may instantly attract the audience but they expect several high moments during the film. However, the Telugu audience appreciated sports dramas like Chak De India and Dangal. So, if the film manages to attract the audience, it will score a decent hit. Nani needs a memorable hit to compete with the upcoming actors and Jersey deals with a similar theme. The first single of the film will be unveiled on February 14, on the occasion of Valentine’s day. The film will release on April 19.
